Fall 2015

What a wonderful start to the 2015-2016 school year! Ella, you were counting down the days until you got to go back to Laguna Presbyterian Preschool and reunite with all of your friends. I'm always so jealous that  Daddy gets to have this experience with you, but the silver lining is that you two get to make such special memories together. All summer long you talked incessantly about Luke & Keegan (two boys I've never even met) and you could hardly sleep the night before school because of the thought that either one of them could be in your class consumed you. Elise, you were actually thrilled to start seeing our nanny, Gisela, every day again. You, and especially Ella, absolutely adore her!

Our weekends have been consumed with birthday parties and fun activities. We hit a record and actually made it to 5 birthday parties in one September weekend, I was impressed since we move pretty slow these days. Both girls were thrilled to celebrate Julian at our old community pool in Dana Woods and watch a movie in the park. We also celebrated cousin Jojo's birthday at We Play Loud. He is a huge fan of cars and now both you girls look forward to playdates with him because you love to borrow his toys :) On September 11th, Elise took her first real series of steps and we got it all on video. All it takes is a little food motivation! Leese, you were taking a few steps here and there for weeks, but once you decided that it was time, you never looked back. You're talking a lot more now and your most popular words are, "mama, dada, ewa (ella), bird, cheese, and no!' You love the bath more than anything and when you enter our master bathroom, you will actually attempt to pull off your clothes and point to the bathtub. Most of the time, you will just grunt and point when you want something.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with all of your cousins. We started the day with our annual Turkey Trot. It was extra fun this year since the Whitledges ran too. We had to leave the house by 6am which is no easy task. Luke (Daddy) and John started the race in the first heat and then we met up with them at the half-way point to hand over the strollers so that you girls could run with them. Luisa and Ana Maria were amazing and seemed to enjoy people watching. Elise, you made every attempt to escape the confines of the stroller and poor Daddy had to stop multiple times to attend to your needs. You can be very high maintenance (don't know where you get that from :). My mom ran too and she is an absolute rock star. She runs ahead every year and is in such great shape. I only wish I can have half the energy that she does at her age. Afterwards, we all squeezed together to have breakfast at Turk's (somewhat of a dive bar, but we made it work :). We made it back home just in time for naps and food prep. Our house is pretty small for entertaining so we had to set up everything outside. This was extremely nerve-wracking since the weather forecast was predicting light showers. It was definitely chilly, but everything ended up coming together beautifully. All of the cousins loved spending time together! You are all so unique and wonderful with your different personality traits :).

Looking so forward to more holiday adventures and spending quality time together as a family over Christmas break. Every holiday is so much more meaningful because we have you girls. I love getting to live vicariously through you and seeing the excitement and wonder through your eyes.
