Ella, we had so much fun planning your Carlson Carnival themed birthday party. "We" probably really means "I", but your dad was such a good sport and went along with everything since I convinced him this was your last big celebration as an only child :) As usual, I loved obsessing over every little detail and making everything perfectly color coordinated and thematic. Hobby Lobby is my absolute favorite place and I think I've been there at least twenty times this month (it's also where I pulled my groin muscle picking you up). My family is amazing and always come over ridiculously early to do all of the set-up and stay late until everything is clean! Everything had to be taken to the park and then back to the house so we needed all of the help we could get. Even though I always have to end up apologizing for my controlling ways, I appreciate all of their assistance more than they will ever know. Thank goodness the My Little Carnival company set up their tents and all of the food and games directly at the park making it much easier for us (even though the hot dogs were cold, Uncle Joe and David saved the day by BBQing last minute)! Quite a few of your friends came from Merry Poppets (daycare) which made your party extra special since you've never really had any play-dates with them outside of school (tough when all of the parents work)! You loved your pink escalade more than anything and were so lucky to receive so many amazing gifts. We donated a significant amount of your toys to goodwill and although you didn't completely understand, you liked the idea of giving other little kids new and used items :) The one memory I never want to forget is when we started playing "Dunk Your Daddy" you had an absolute meltdown and didn't want anybody to get your Daddy wet. Mimi actually had to take you away so you couldn't see. It was sad but so cute at the same time. Daddy apparently also told you that you could eat your whole cake so when we started cutting slices for other people you yelled, "I don't want nobody to have my cake". I always brag about how sweet you are to everybody and this was a full blown terrible two/three moment. Once your dad explained to me that he might have confused you, I felt a little better :) You wore the cutest/silliest little clown ensemble and I was surprised at how excited you were to keep it on. The biggest hit of the day was definitely the clown we hired because all of the kids loved getting their faces painted and getting balloon animals. We are definitely going to have to take a few years off from big birthday parties, but this was such a great party to end on!
Lots of fun celebrations this month (Daddy's 33rd Birthday, Father's Day, Uncle Bob's bday, Elise's school "sprinkle", last day of school) and many play-dates!
Happy Father's Day!
